Rental Car Insurance - Do You Need It?

First of all, most U.S. drivers already carry auto insurance which will provide full or partial protection while driving a rental car (within certain dollar limits and coverage only for rentals within the United States and, sometimes, Canada). Some insurance policies only cover cars rented while your own car is being repaired, while most do not cover certain types of vehicles, like luxury cars or vans. Check your own personal policy for these limitations and exclusions.

Even with these limitations, your personal auto insurance will be the primary source of coverage if you have an accident or suffer injury while driving a rental car. Other types of coverage, such as credit card policies and the rental company's optional insurance offered at the time of the booking, will be subrogated. This means it will not apply until you have reached the maximum of your own auto insurance coverage. Also, be aware that your personal auto insurance rates may increase if you file a claim for damaging a rental car.

Some states have legislature in place requiring rental companies to inform you that their insurance coverage may duplicate your personal auto policy, though these laws do not specify how you must be notified. The best way for you to do is to talk directly with your auto insurance agent before you rent a car and ask the following questions.

What geographical area does my policy offer rental coverage in? (Generally speaking, auto policies cover the U.S. and Canada only.)

How much liability coverage do I currently have? (If you own an older car, for example, you may carry only the minimum amount of liability coverage that is required by the laws of your state, a level that may be insufficient to protect you against the risk of completely replacing a brand-new rental vehicle or, potentially even worse, paying an excessive personal injury claim.

How much is my deductible? (Are you willing to pay that amount out of pocket if you have to file a claim for damaging a rental car?)

Does my policy cover only the value of the vehicle(s) listed on my policy? (If so, you should compare that value to the replacement cost of the type of car you will be renting.)

Does my policy cover theft and collision damage? (Most U.S. drivers already carry collision coverage that can replace the protection sold by rental car companies.)

In the end, the decision of whether or not to purchase optional extra insurance from a car rental company is yours, of course. Consider well the value of the insurance against the cost and bear in mind the above information and make the decision with all the facts.

Risk and Insurance - Why Insurers Avoid Certain Risks

The idea that insurance companies are 'afraid' of risk is a half-truth. The reality is that insurers avoid substandard risks or those that aren't considered insurable. Indeed, there are at least two sides to every story. An insurance company exists to provide a service (risk coverage) but remain profitable. It is a business - not a charity. However, an insurer doesn't deny accepting risks or have deductibles and exclusions on a whim. There are several plausible insurance-specific and business reasons for insurers to avoid certain risks.

1) Underwriting losses

Insurance companies would experience significantly higher underwriting losses if they were not averse from uninsurable risks or high risks. An underwriting loss occurs when an insurer pays out more money than received on a particular policy. So if you paid $4,000.00 for medical coverage and you get a claim paid for $30,000.00, your policy would be considered an underwriting loss. The aversion from high risk is to reduce the likelihood of losses, since these affect the stability of the company.

2) Anti-selection

The tendency for those with greater risks to seek insurance coverage as opposed to those facing less risk is broadly referred to as anti-selection. Insurers have to be on the alert for those who may have ulterior motives that are often undisclosed. Thus, the application process is even more rigorous when higher coverage levels are involved. Also, anti-selection is also a reason for insurance companies employing concepts like deductibles, insurance excess and exclusions to manage the risk.

3) Moral hazard

Moral hazard refers to the danger of dishonesty with an insurance transaction. Insurance companies may seem unwilling to accept certain risks if it is felt that there is some dishonesty or non-disclosure involved. It may seem as if the insurance contract states that the insurance company does not cover more than it actually covers. However, this is merely to reduce the moral hazard it faces through non-disclosure or misrepresentation.

4) Preventing speculation

One insurance principle is that no one must gain from insurance. Even with life insurance, there is supposed to be some degree of parity between the sum assured and the economic value of the insured. Insurance is an instrument of compensation. Therefore, insurers may be apt to deny a risk if they suspect that there is some degree of speculation or illegal wagering.

5) Lower premiums

For insurance to be affordable, the risks must be kept at a satisfactory standard. Some risks are just too high for an insurer to accept- even at adjusted premiums. If a terminally ill patient seeks $100,000.00 in life insurance, imagine what his premium may have to be for the insurer to not guarantee an underwriting loss! Aversion from undue risk by insurance companies helps to maintain lower premium levels.

6) Profitability

One should not fool oneself. Insurance companies are in the business to make a profit. Before you view this as confirmation that insurance is a rip-off, consider that most businesses exist to make a profit. However, insurance does this by being prudent while providing a necessary service for society. Being too liberal with risks will affect an insurer's profit margins significantly.

7) Duty to policy holders as a 'going concern'

Depositors could make a 'run' on financial institutions with swift, unexpected withdrawals that could leave an institution illiquid or insolvent. Too many underwriting losses can lead to the winding up of an insurer. An insurance company is a long-term business. Risk selection is the key to sustaining this type of business. Poor risk selection would lead to the winding up of an insurance company. At that juncture, policy holders would lose their money or the coverage that they paid for.

8) Adherence to sound insurance principles and policies

The apparent risk-averse nature of insurance companies is not ad hoc. Insurers don't randomly reject business. They have policies in place that are based on the characteristics of insurable risks and risk assessment methods.

Insurers must discriminate in order for the company to survive. It is easy to suggest that insurers are 'afraid' of risk, but they are there to undertake insurable risks. Naturally, insurers have an issue with substandard or risks or those that are too high for a premium to be affordable or practical. Insurance companies are in the business of risk, but they must be prudent and selective. It is this discretion (and the lethargy of the claims process of some insurers) that can unfairly create the notion that insurers are risk averse.

Cheap Car Insurance in Texas

When done properly, buying a used car is economically responsible. If you are buying a used car in Texas, you undoubtedly want cheap car insurance in Texas. To get affordable car insurance for your "new" used car, start from the beginning.

Pay for the car upfront. Many people choose not to purchase brand new cars because auto insurance for new cars is notoriously more expensive than auto insurance for pre-owned cars. There are several reasons why car insurance is more expensive for new cars, and one of those reasons is that new cars usually have to be financed. When you finance a car, the finance company or lender most often requires you to purchase full coverage car insurance, which is more expensive than liability car insurance. By saving your money until you can afford to pay for your used car completely upfront, you will not need a financer or lender, and you will be able to purchase whatever amount of car insurance you want, as long as it meets the legal requirements in Texas.

Bring an automotive whiz with you. It is aggravating to search for and finally purchase your dream pre-owned vehicle, only to get home and find out there are many necessary repairs to be made. When you shop for your car, bring along someone knowledgeable about auto mechanics. Let him or her test drive the vehicle with you, take a look under the hood, and do any other inspection of the car. If your car insurance company knows that everything is working properly, you are more likely to get cheap car insurance in Texas.

Look for safety features. Safety features come with used cars just as they do new cars, so you want to look at cars with additional safety features, too. Anti-theft alarms, anti-lock brakes, child proof locks, and air bags are all excellent safety features to have and are impressive to your car insurance company.

The Most Expensive Cars to Insure

Just because a car is cheap doesn't mean the insurance will be. High-cost cars aren't always the most expensive to insure either. If you are concerned about high insurance rates, you probably shouldn't go out a buy a new $33,000 Honda S2000 convertible. And that little inexpensive Volkswagen GTI, listed at $22,000, will cost you as much in insurance as its bigger cousin, the Passat, which costs twice as much.

Looking for cheaper insurance rates? The 2004 Chevrolet Aveo and the 2004 Chevrolet Colorado are among the cheapest 2004 models to insure.

The main factor in the cost of insurance for certain vehicles is not in the price, but its claims history. For example, certain cars are proven to be stolen more often. Some have high repair costs or are in more accidents than other cars. There are many factors, not just the cost of the car, that affect the premiums.

Insurance premiums are based on several factors, including:

The sticker price: a car that costs more to buy, costs more to replace.

Repair costs: Repair costs are skyrocketing at nearly double the overall rate of inflation. There are so many technological advance included in cars that they are more expensive to repair.

Theft and fraud patterns: Cars that are frequently stolen are more expensive to insure. Thieves have their favorites based on market demands and interchangeability of parts. The Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry are the most frequently stolen cars. If you live in an area where there are high auto theft rates, you could pay more in premiums. Insurance fraud is also on the rise and will result in higher insurance costs, especially if you live in New York, Massachusetts or Florida.

Model year, weight and vehicle type: The more power you have the higher premiums you will pay. Sports cars, high-performance vehicles and luxury cars have the highest losses for vehicle damage and small, light vehicles have the highest death rates. Passenger vans and station wagons have the lowest losses for vehicle damage. SUV's and trucks will generally sustain less damage in a collision, but will cause more damage and higher liability claims.

Driver demographics: Your age, where you live, your gender, driving record and credit history will affect your premiums. If you have a bad driving record, you will pay a lot in insurance premiums. If you have a good clean driving record, you'll pay less for insurance.

Technological progress: New gadgets and doodads in cars will make your premiums higher. This is because the cost of repairs is more expensive.

Cheapest Time of Year to Go to Hawaii

Contrary to popular myth the cheapest time of year to go to Hawaii is winter. The myth that winter is the most expensive time for Hawaii travel is grounded in the belief that people planning a Hawaii vacation want to escape to a tropical paradise when the mainland is cold, and thus in the winter, Hawaii is descended upon by huge masses of snowbirds.

The fact is while most in the Northern Hemisphere may prefer to make like snowbirds and escape rain, snow and sleet, they don't.

Why not? Most mainlanders take their vacations in the summer. This is probably due to the fact that the longest school holiday for most children is in the summer. Even those without children seem to be locked into the summer vacation tradition or they are busy with the winter holidays.

So, if you don't have ties to home during the winter, take heart. The cheapest time of year to go to Hawaii is winter with fall running a close second/tying and spring next best. However you look at it, summer is hands down the most expensive time to not only fly to Hawaii, but to vacation in Hawaii.

Our off-season rates at hotels and resorts, for example, are found at just about anytime but the summer. There are a few exceptions, and they are centered around, as you may have guessed, school vacations.

When most colleges are out for spring break, airfare and hotel rates soar. The same holds true for Christmas/winter break. But even then, the expense doesn't come close to summer. On average, a summer Hawaiian vacation will cost you double the amount of a winter Hawaiian vacation.

If you are one of the lucky ones who can manage to go to Hawaii in the winter, keep in mind that rates fluctuate daily, and that you'll save the most by shopping the online discount sites like Orbitz and Hotwire as well as Hawaiian Air. This is true for any time of the year.

And you know a really nice thing at traveling in the winter (besides the usual itinerary of balmy breezes, inviting ocean temperatures, warm sands, luau and shopping) is the holiday season! Christmas in Hawaii is not like anywhere on Earth.

While the cheapest time to go to Hawaii is winter, airfares do go up as schools break for winter holiday and as Christmas approaches. The days just before and including New Year's are also more expensive.

But if you go earlier in December, there's plenty of time to enjoy the Honolulu City Lights festivities.

For example, I just found a rate at Hawaiian Airline's site of $224 roundtrip - leaving L.A. December 9 for Honolulu and returning December 17.

So as you can see, not only is the cheapest time of year to go to Hawaii, winter. It's a great time of year to visit our islands of aloha (in my opinion, but then I'm a sucker for Hawaiian Christmas choirs and Santa in his red canoe)!

How to Find Cheap Used Cars in Indiana

Trying to find cheap used cars in Indiana? There is great potential in finding real cheap cars at decent condition from the repossessed and impounded vehicles market. Read on to discover how you can find cheap used cars in Indiana through a market that not many people are aware of.

Hundreds if not thousands of cars are repossessed by banks and other financial institutions everyday across the country from people who fail to honor their payment. A good number of vehicles are also seized and impounded by government agencies such as the state police for various felonies and offences. These establishments all seek to do one thing with the vehicles that they seize, sell them off as soon as possible as there is substantial amount of money involved in keeping the automobiles. Thus emerged the market of selling and auctioning off of vehicles that come from these sources. Sometimes you may come across vehicles that are sold for as low as 10% of their current market value. This is a good way to find cheap used cars in Indiana.

Of course, knowing how to get cheap used cars in Indiana won't do you much good if you do not know where to look. Local newspapers and magazine sometimes feature this kind of sales and auctions. A few minutes of your time everyday may just lead you to a great bargain.

Calling the establishments which you think may hold such auctions will help too. Just make sure that you get to the right person who has all the necessary info and you are set. Remember, not everyone in these establishments may know about the sales or auctions.

Lastly, you can use online service to look up on information of such sales and auctions. I also have the flexibility to access the information anywhere I want with an internet connection. Such services provide up-to-date information and you can search for vehicles on sale on your area. It will be a breeze to find cheap used cars in Indiana with such services.

Variable Life Insurance Quotes

Variable life insurance is life insurance that gives account flexibility for more risk-oriented policyholders and it provides permanent protection for them. It pays the death benefit to a named beneficiary and offers low-risk, tax-free cash buildup. It permits the death benefit to vary, with regards to the fund returns of the cash value account. It lets a policyholder borrow from the policy, during his lifetime. However, it does not offer any guarantee on the amount of cash value, during the policy holder?s lifetime. It offers no premium flexibility and no face amount flexibility.

Universal variable life insurance is a variable life insurance that gives more control on the cash value account policy features, than any other form of insurance. It does so by paying the death benefit to a named beneficiary and offering low risk tax deferred cash value option. Furthermore, it offers separate accounts for investing in money market, stock and bond funds. It offers premium flexibility and allows people to make withdrawals or borrow from the policy, during their lifetimes. It insists that if a contract is terminated in early years by the policyholder, he will receive less cash value total returns, than mentioned in the contract.

A policyholder needs to devote time to manage the accounts. A policy?s long-term success depends on the investment made by the policyholder. This insurance does not work well with small premium amounts because it is necessary for the premium to cover the account and investment.

These variable life insurance policies are regulated at the state and federal level and can be risky. They do not guarantee either principal or interest. It is imperative that while purchasing a variable life policy, the agent presents the buyer with a prospectus. This should be equipped to furnish all the necessary information on the product.

Cheap Car Insurance in Nashville, Tennessee

Nashville, Tennessee is often referred to as Music City, U.S.A. It's a vibrant and exciting place to live and many of the residents wouldn't even consider moving anywhere else. As with most popular cities, many people get from one side of town to another by using a car or truck. For motorists living in Nashville, finding a good insurance plan with a cheap rate is always something they are looking for.

With over 1,700 companies licensed to sell insurance in the state it can become confusing for the average individual who is looking for cheap car insurance. They may not know what level of coverage they need and what extra benefits will keep them well protected. There are many factors that ultimately determine the policy they'll go with and each of those needs to be taken into consideration when negotiating a rate.

One deciding factor that many people don't think about when looking for cheap car insurance is how experienced a driver they are. If you've only been driving a year you can expect to pay more for insurance than someone who has been driving for five or more years. The reasoning behind this is simple. If you haven't proven yourself to any insurance companies yet, they are going to view you as a risk. Although there's little you can do to sway them to lower your rates because you are a good driver, prove it to them by staying accident and citation free. Every year that you show good behavior as a driver you can expect to enjoy a reduction in your car insurance premiums.

Being married can also lower your rates. For this reason it's wise to mention any change in martial status to your car insurance agent. Being married speaks of added responsibility which insurance companies take kindly to. Adding your spouse's car to your policy can also work towards a better rate.

Texas Car Insurance Requirements

In regards to car insurance requirements in Texas, you must have a minimum of $15,000 to cover damages an accident causes other property; $20,000 to cover any bodily injury or death of one person per accident; and $40,000 to cover any bodily injury or death of two or more persons per accident. You can meet the Texas car insurance requirements by purchasing a policy from a car insurance company licensed to do insurance business in Texas, or you may want to post a self-bond - set aside enough money to meet the car insurance requirements in Texas.

Self-bonding, or self-insuring, to meet the Texas car insurance requirements does have its advantages. First, you do not have to worry about whether or not it is going to be difficult to get insurance - if you are providing it, it is already there! You also do not have to concern yourself with premiums, making payments on time, or renewal and cancellation in the matter of being self-insured.

When you meet the Texas car insurance requirements with a self-bond or self-insurance, you are also free to purchase additional car insurance coverage from a traditional car insurance company. By keeping your self-insurance stash in mind, you can pick and choose what car insurance coverage you want to purchase.

Self-bonding, or self-insuring, is not actually the most efficient way to meet the car insurance requirements in Texas, but it is an option - an option that many people choose. The most common reason people choose the option of self-bonding to satisfy the Texas car insurance requirements is because they feel they are uninsurable. A bad driving record, a flawed credit report, and a sketchy history of making payments are all factors Texans believe make them uninsurable; however, these are factors that can and do improve in time, and the self-bonded individual may want to switch to a traditional car insurance policy in Texas once these factors have improved.

POS Insurance Programs

Point of Service (POS) insurance plans are a combination of the benefits you would receive from a PPO or HMO. POS insurance does not usually involve deductibles. Like an HMO, POS programs require you to have a Primary Care Physician (PCP) who acts as your point of service for all other medical needs. The PCP that you choose under a POS plan then refers you to specialists. A low copay usually covers fees for services under a POS insurance plan. Depending on the POS plan and the state you reside in, the copay cost can be anywhere from $10 to $30.

Unlike an HMO, POS insurance plans allow the customer to choose doctors and hospitals outside of the POS network. Coverage of services outside the POS network is an average of 60%. Further, many POS insurance programs often require a deductible to be paid for services outside of the POS network. Fortunately, even with deductibles, POS insurance plans usually have low out of pocket cost limits. The average POS out of pocket limitation is $2,400 for individuals and $4000 for families.

One of the complaint people have about POS services is that their PCP does not give them appropriate referrals. Having to request a referral from a PCP is an additional step in accessing needed POS medical services. You can always skip this step by seeing someone outside the POS network, but doing so can prove quite costly.

A benefit of PCP referrals is that the PCP can refer you to a doctor outside the POS insurance network. A PCP referral outside the POS network significantly reduces the portion of the billing that you would be responsible for.

Overall, POS programs allow for greater freedom of choice in health care options by combining the flexibility of a PPO with the low cost of a HMO. POS insurance plans can seem restrictive because they require referrals from a PCP in order for the POS coverage of medical expenses to be maximal. This means that while POS insurance plans offer greater freedom of choice, this freedom is regulated by the PCP. There is still the choice to seek service outside the POS network, but that may incur large fees. Having a POS insurance plan means recognizing the balance within the POS plan so that you can plan for a balance in POS benefits and services for yourself.

The Cheapest Hiking Clothes

Hiking clothes and backpacking clothes need to function to a higher standard than everyday clothes. That's why they're often more expensive. Shop all the sales you want, and you will save money, but that extremely expensive waterproof/breathable coat will only be marked down to "very expensive." Time for some more radical ways to find cheap hiking clothes.

Consider what you really need for the trips you have planned. If you'll be scaling peaks in Patagonia for a month, you may have to stick with the best sales you can find on the high-quality stuff. If, on the other hand, your trips are fair-weather overnighters, a two-ounce, two-dollar plastic poncho isn't out of the question.

Even on the more extreme trips you can often find cheaper alternatives. Did I take a $400 waterproof/breathable rain suit to the top of 20,600-foot Mount Chimborazo? No, I took my papery Frogg-Toggs rain suit. You'll find these at golf shops, and yes it's waterproof and breaths well too. It cost me $49 for the set, and I have used it for years, on many rainy trips, with only one duct-tape repair.

Do you like to hike in running shoes, as I do? Start watching the sales on out-of-style shoes. I've bought brand-name $90 shoes for just $25. With savings like that, I'll gladly be out of style.

I stopped getting blisters when I gave up on expensive, high-tech, too-hot hiking socks. I hike thirty miles now without a blister in comfortable, lightweight, white nylon dress socks. They're less than an ounce and about a dollar per pair.

Buy Used Hiking Clothes

The only hiking clothes I won't buy used is footwear. Other potential backpacking clothes are worth checking out whenever I find them at a rummage sale or thrift store. I've found a Gore-Tex rain jacket and North Face vest at a thrift store for a few dollars each. My thrifty used wool sweater weighs just 11 ounces, and is almost as warm as the newest models.

One of my favorite thrift store discoveries was silk shirts. I learned that they weigh just tree ounces, and show up on the racks regularly for $3. They are comfortable too, though on the trail some of the styles make me look like I'm searching for a wilderness disco.

Making Hiking Clothes

I can't recommend sewing your own hiking and backpacking clothes, but I have made a few simple things. The sleeve from an old thermal shirt became a one-ounce ski mask with scissors and three minutes of sewing. Socks with finger-holes make nifty hand warmers. As an insulating layer, I wore a four-ounce piece of poly batting like a tunic under my Frogg Toggs, to the top of Chimborazo and other mountains. Finally, without too much sewing, you can often modify clothes to make cheap hiking clothes.

Buy a Nintendo Wii Online - 3 Cheapest Places to Buy the Wii

Regardless if it is a special occasion, or the holiday season, if you are looking to buy an online video game console, there are a few things you should know before making your purchase. Most of the best deals of the year are typically right after Thanksgiving, however that does not mean that you cannot find a great deal on any Nintendo product at any time of year. Here are three of the cheapest places that you will find you buy the Nintendo Wii online.

The first place that you should look is on the most popular online auctions in the world. Many have a global presence which allows participants to sell new and used merchandise 24 hours a day. Many times, if you do your due diligence, you will be able to find a great deal on almost anything including the Nintendo Wii. The best place to look is to start with the search engine that is built in and search for all of the auctions that are closing soon. There you will see if you can get a deal today without wasting your time on watching auctions for several days.

The second place that you can get a great deal buying it is to search the large super online stores or marketplaces. Mind you, these consoles have been used and may have some wear and tear. The point is that you are getting a great deal for the exact product you are looking for.

The third-place to look for a great deal on the Nintendo Wii is to search the many search engines and look at the results that come up. Although most of the merchandise sold on the right side is from a retailer, sometimes you will find a great deal in the natural part of the search engine on the left. By scrolling down two or three pages, you may come across a wonderful deal.

One other place that should be mentioned is looking at online classifieds. Most of the people offering their merchandise will the leading it go for sometimes 75% off. These classifieds can put you in touch with eager sellers that are willing to take the last for a product that you really want including the many Nintendo systems.

By taking your time to look at these three different areas, you will more than likely find a place that will sell you what you are looking for at the price that you want. Before you buy Nintendo Wii online, make sure it has everything you are looking for and is coming from a reputable source and hopefully a dignified seller.

There is Always Better Insurance

The majority of Americans are spending more than they need to for their insurance needs. If they would simply take ten minutes out of their day to shop online for a less expensive plan, they could be saving hundreds of dollars per year. This can be said for health, auto, and home or rental insurance.

Insurance is important to have for the safety and protection of your family. When accidents happen, you need to have your expensive belongings covered, otherwise you may lose them. Not paying for insurance at all is probably the worst way to save money. This may end up costing you much more in the long run. Finding a less expensive premium, however, is the best way to start trimming your finances.

At NetQuotes.com or eInsurance.com you can compare prices of insurance from all of the major carriers. This is the quickest way to shop for all of your insurance needs. The most important thing to keep in mind when shopping for a new insurance plan is to make sure you know what the plan offers. Believe it or not, different companies offer different packages. In order to obtain this information quickly you may want to call the company and ask a bunch of questions. Compare on plan to another to make sure you are getting what you need. Also, make sure you know what your deductibles are for each policy. Having a higher deductible can lower your monthly premium and visa versa. By switching to another plan or simply getting a higher deductible on your health insurance, auto insurance, and home insurance could save you any where from $100 to $1,200 per year!

Often times people are satisfied with their current insurance agent and do not want to switch to someone else for loyalty reasons. This is fine, but it still may be worth shopping online to find another price in order to negotiate a better price with your current agent. Use the research you find online to show them that you could be paying less with another company but will stick with your currently company if they reduce your premium a little. You have to be bold and confident when presenting this. Make it simple and just give a friendly reason of how you are trying to save money right now.

Discounts are almost always available, you just need to ask. These discounts are often such things as a discount for paying semi-annually or annually rather than monthly, or for having your monthly premium automatically deducted from you account. There may even be a discount for having all of your insurance needs packaged together in one bundle. You can often get a solid 10% discount if you ask for it. Think about it, this could result in $50 to $800 in savings for the year.

When it comes to insurance, do not make the mistake of thinking that you do not need it. Life will throw something your way, it is basically a guarantee. But, when it comes to paying for insurance, do not pay more than you have to. Take a little bit of time right now to find the plan that is best for you and start saving money.

Cheapest Car Insurance Possible

Findings indicate that the statistics related to teenage car accidents are not good. As per the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), 16 year old teenagers face six times more car accidents as compared to other drivers within the age group of thirty and fifty nine. That is one of the main reasons why many car insurance companies charge higher insurance premiums for this particular age group. The good news is that not all auto insurance companies charge that way, and at times even offer discounts to make the car insurance more affordable to this particular group of individuals. The article offers some suggestions how teenage drivers can avail cheaper car insurance and keep the driver is license free of violations.

Follow the Rules

Parents ought to encourage youngsters to follow the traffic regulatory rules. It is the best ways to prevent accidents from taking place. The rules are thought over in depth by the experts, and specially created to decrease the probability of accidents from taking place. If majority of the car drivers follow the rules stringently, it is possible to reduce the total number of road accidents substantially. A clean driving record also means lower premium amounts, since car insurance companies know the total number of claims will be less, and if a person is putting in a claim, it is not due to negligence.

Be a Role Model

Teenagers tend to copy their parents. It is a known fact. If you, as a parent have a habit of yelling at other drivers, or frequently get speeding tickets, you are indirectly sending a message to your kid it is OK to break the rules if you get away with it. This is wrong. Your kids are going to copy you sooner or later. It is how the subconscious works. By following a positive attitude towards driving, you are preparing your children to be more responsible towards driving, and also as responsible citizens of the society.

Let your Kid be a Co-Policy Holder

Rather than setting up an independent policy for your kid, it is recommended you include his or her name as a co-policy holder, or as an additional driver. It is possible to avail a discount by setting up the insurance policy this way and benefit through cheaper car insurance.

Get Better Grades

If your kid has a 3.0 or higher GPA, the car insurance can get reduced by as much as ten percent. It is advised you find out whether your car insurance company supports any such plan. You get a straight discount in case your insurance provider supports education related incentives.

Learn Driving through Recognized Driving Classes

If your kid is planning to learn driving, it is better to learn from a government approved or a creditable driving class program. Insurance companies support responsible learning, and often provide specific benefits and discounts if you have cleared your driving test from a recognized institute. A few car insurance companies also offer tailor made short term car insurance which can be really beneficial.

Buy the Correct Car

Teenagers crave for trendy cars - especially sports cars if you have a son - he is likely to ask for one. That is where your discretion comes in. You get him a decent car that suffices the commutation needs, and tell him to wait "a bit longer" to get that sports car. As per the findings, with age maturity levels automatically increase. So if your son is likely to drive his favorite sports car after the age of twenty one, he is likely to be a more responsible driver, and drive the car cautiously. Another advantage is that non-sports cars have lesser insurance premiums, and the car insurance is more affordable.

Proper Communication

Alcohol and drug abuse is a highly common factor as far as car accidents are concerned. As a parent, if you tend to talk more freely with your kid regarding alcohol and drug abuse, it is possible your son or daughter might "open up" and ask for your help if he or she is "into it". It is a great way to set up confidence levels with your kid.

Improve the Driving Record

If you or your kids have received a few tickets, it is going to reflect on your driving record, and this gives the insurance company a chance to increase the premium. The best way to go about it is to enroll in a traffic school, even if your kid is a good driver. It is always possible to argue with the company that "things have improved" and you are not required to pay a higher premium since the driving record has "improved".

Cheap Bunk Beds? Discover How You Can Find The Best Cheap Bunk Beds!

For many, bunk beds are a great blessing when it comes to saving yourself a little space, especially if you've more than one child; and cheap bunk beds are more than helpful if you are currently budgeting. Nevertheless, when examining any cheap bunk beds that are on offer, then you should ensure that the bunk beds will be well made and secure, because your children's well-being has to come before money.

It's easy enough to come across bunk beds that are cheap or currently on sale. If you find yourself in this position, then be sure to carefully look over any cheap bunk beds which you are considering buying. Are there many different parts for you to piece together? Each single nut and bolt that is used in putting up the bunk beds should be reckoned as one singular part that could easily become defective. Also, when examining any cheap bunk beds, take note of what it's been constructed from. Metal bunk beds really ought to be thickset and strong, and in the case of wood bunk beds, you should expect then to be sanded and have had varnish applied, in a fashion as to avoid splintering whilst your youngster is climbing into the bunk. Furthermore, be sure that the top bunk provides sufficient support in order to prevent any drooping above the lower bunk.

I believe that the finest way of saving yourself some money when purchasing a bunk bed, is to keep an eye on beds that are for sale at well established stores. By following this method, you could easily find yourself a good bunk bed at an affordable cost. Also, if you have access to the internet, be sure to check out any alternatives on the internet. Most goods that are for sale online are often cheaper than any physical store.

One last opportunity for you to consider; a cut-price bunk bed can sometimes be discovered on display on a shop floor. Sometimes, you will find display bunks that are put up as an example model of the bunk bed and these are often greatly reduced in price, and, after a prudent safety inspection confirming that nothing is wrong, then this provides an opportune method in picking up a cheap bunk bed.

But the crucial thing to think of is that the cheapest deal may not necessarily be the best option for you, especially if that increased reduction places your youngster in any kind of danger, it is always more prudent to pay a little more than to place your child in any kind of danger.

Instant Car Insurance

Usually, people require car insurance for a whole year, and have plenty of time to arrange their insurance, but this is not always the case. Sometimes you require instant car insurance- perhaps your car is brand new and you only need temporary cover, or perhaps you've forgotten to arrange your insurance, and the due date is upon you. Here are some tips for arranging instant car insurance.

Firstly, if you need instant car insurance for a short time, you should ask an insurer for a cover note, also called a cover letter. This is a short-term, temporary cover, given instantly, until you can arrange permanent insurance. This is the kind of insurance which covers a car getting to the repairer, or from a dealership, or to the motor authority in your area.

A different type of instant car insurance is temporary insurance, or "Day Insurance." Most providers of instant, temporary insurance are happy to insure a vehicle for between 1 and 28 days. If you do not require a whole year's insurance, this is the option for you. It is particularly useful for travellers who purchase a car while they are overseas, people who have borrowed a car, or people who require car insurance for longer than a cover note will allow.

Not all insurance is the same, so make sure you aren't treated just like everyone else. Make you needs known to your insurers, and always read the fine print carefully to make sure that you receive the instant car insurance which best meets your needs.

Legal Expenses Insurance - A Quick Guide

While you may think you don't need this kind of insurance, or can't afford it, in fact you may not be able to afford to be without it.

If you got into a dispute with a holiday company, a tradesman or a neighbour, and you had no choice but to pursue it through the courts, would you be able to pay your costs without difficulty? What if you were injured in an accident, or unfairly dismissed from your job?

Cover yourself properly and you'll be able to afford to take a case as far as you want until you are satisfied with the outcome. In addition, this insurance removes the financial worry from a situation which is probably already quite stressful enough.

Most legal expenses insurance, or LEI, is sold as 'before the event' cover, the 'event' being the situation which triggers the need for legal action. As the name implies, it covers things which could potentially happen. It means that solicitors, expert witness and court fees and any legal expenses awarded to the other side will all be paid for. There is generally a maximum limit on how much money can be paid out - for example, up to £100,000.

'After the event' LEI is taken out only after the event has occurred, and protects the policy holder or their business against the cost of losing their legal case. Each 'event' requires a separate policy. You can organise this cover through a solicitor or a specialist broker. Be aware that 'after the event' insurance also tends to be more expensive than other types of LEI.

More often than not, legal indemnity cover is sold as an additional feature of an existing policy, such as household insurance. It's also possible to have it as part of your car insurance, giving you additional protection against any costs arising from road traffic accidents for which you are not otherwise insured.

If you're buying legal expenses cover as an add-on to a policy you already have, you may well be pleasantly surprised at how little it increases your annual premium - fees of £15 or £20 are not uncommon. Sometimes, LEI is already included for free, so it's worth checking your household and motoring policies for this. Have a look at what exactly you are already covered for, and any conditions which may apply.

While it is perfectly possible to insure yourself against legal costs with a standalone policy, this is less common.

As with any insurance cover, you need to check the terms and conditions very clearly before committing yourself to a new policy. With some legal expenses cover, for example, the insurer sometimes reserves the right to withhold payment if it feels there isn't a reasonable chance of your winning your case.

At the same time, with 'before the event' cover you may not be able to hire a solicitor of your choosing until legal proceedings are already underway. This means you should get in touch with your solicitor before employing a lawyer and running up legal bills.

Cheap Handbags

I know the title "Cheap Handbags" is not an inspiring one but believe it or not every fashionista looks for them at one time or other.

Reasons:

- You might want to look for cheap handbags when of course you are low on budget but there can be many other reasons.
- For example you need a really cute or matching handbag to go with your outfit and you know you will not be carrying it again except for that one occasion; you might opt in for these handbags.
- Another scenario might be you are out of town and a sudden occasion comes up and you need a handbag pronto to go with your outfit; these handbags are your answer.

However, cheap handbags are not synonym with ugly, out of style, dull and boring handbags. You can buy gorgeous, trendy and really cute looking handbags and be very happy with your purchase.

Ways to buy:

- There are a number of online and offline ways to buy cheap handbags. Sales are the way to go whether it is offline or online. My daughter just bought two very cute handbags from Charlotte Russe for 99 cents each. One is black and ruched with buckle hardware and other is purple. How can you beat that? The point is you can get great handbags at cheap prices.

- Suppose you fall in love with designer handbags that are popular at the time and everyone is carrying them. However, being a sensible person you do not want to dole out a large amount of money that will be out of season in future, you might go with celebrity look alike or cheap knockoff designer handbags that will satisfy your urge without breaking your wallet. Websites like baghaus.com and DHgate.com offer those kinds of cheap handbags. These are good in quality and come in cheap handbags category. Another great site for trendy and popular cheap handbags is world-brandz.com.

By buying handbags at low prices you can show off your sense of style without depleting your budget.

Cautions: A word of caution though; not all cheap handbags provide long term ownership.

- They will wear out quite quickly and may not be fit to be carried around a year from now. Keeping that in mind, do not spend a lot on them.
- Typically it is said that if you are going for a popular trend like Giraffe print handbags (that are so in now), it is a good buy if the price is not over 5% of original.
- For just similar styles or a cute handbag that you will carry once, in my opinion paying more than $25 for a handbag is not a good financial decision. You can save that money to splurge once in a while on a great quality designer handbag that will be a classic even years from now. At Zappos and ebags you can buy with option of prices. Select the price range you are comfortable with and go for handbags at great prices.

You can go to Designer Bags and look at handbags with price tags and places to buy. Summarizing, you can buy cheap handbags for quality reasons like popular trend, in season rage or emergency wardrobe accessory. However, save your money to splurge on that one of a kind designer handbag like gorgeous Chanel or classy Chloe that will last you for years to come.

Insurance: The Common Insurance Points

Most people will be familiar with insurance in some form or another. We all have taken out home insurance, car insurance or credit insurance among others. Insurance contracts are long and complex documents with a lot of small print. Sometimes even a lawyer would get lost in the complexities involved in them. However, there are a few features that all insurance contracts must have in common.

All insurance contracts will cover a chance event that may or may not occur. This is the risk you are insuring against. The event may be a fire in your home, a car accident, medical costs or virtually any other event. The sole exception to this is life insurance, which covers your death. This is an event that is bound to occur, however, it is the timing of death that is uncertain here.
There must be some quantifiable economic loss. Insurers will take on risks, but they must be able to quantify and predict the loss involved. The insurance company must be able to know roughly what kind of loss will be involved should the event occur. The loss must be quantifiable in monetary terms. For example, you may be able to insure yourself for medical expenses or a new car, but not for the sadness you experience as a result of an accident.
The loss must be definite. Again, insurers must know what kind of financial risks they are taking one; otherwise they will not be able to set the price of the premium.
The loss must be significant. The financial cost of the insured risk must justify the administrative costs of the insurance contract. Suppose you want to insure a racehorse. Someone will come from the insurance company, assess the value of the horse, write up a contract stating what's covered and what conditions you must meet, calculate the premium and issue the contract. This will be worth all the effort for a valuable racehorse. However if you wanted to insure your goldfish, it would be difficult to justify the effort involved in setting up the contract.
The loss must not be catastrophic. What is catastrophic will depend on the size of the insurer and the assets they have available. But the insurance will not be worth anything if the loss is more than the insurer could afford. For example, insuring against an earthquake will often be impossible as the losses, should the event occur, would be impossible for the insurance company to ever pay out.

Their job is to basically put their quotes in front of you and allow you to do the rest without the pressure of any pushy salesman trying to sell you a policy and extras that you do not even need. Land based companies cannot possibly give you a lower rate because they have so many expenses that they have to pay out because they are trying to close a through heavy land based advertising which also involved hiring hundreds if not thousands of sales people, renting office space for them and then hiring supervisors that make sure that they are doing their work properly. In some cases, the insured can expect a discount on each and every different type of policy they hold with the company.

o Remove any high risk drivers from your policy. If your spouse has had several accidents or a few too many speeding tickets, removing them from your policy can result in a nice savings.

o Make driver's training a requirement. Even though many parents only add their children onto their car insurance policies as occasional drivers, the cost can still increase by a large amount. If the teenager goes through a driver's training program that is recognized by the state of Texas, the car insurance company can offer a cheaper rate.

Reviewing your car insurance policy every year or so when it comes up for renewal is a good habit. You may be able to renegotiate the rate or perhaps secure an even lower rate with another company. Remember that you can gather as many quotes as you like to find the cheapest rates on car insurance for you and your family.

Cheap Car Insurance For First Time Drivers

If you are new to driving it would be better, unless you have lots of money, to begin with a car from a lower insurance group. If you can build up and maintain a no-claims profile with no penalty points, you should be able to move up the car insurance groups without significantly increasing your premium.

The idea is that cheap car insurance for young drivers should be competitive because you are cutting out the middleman, so the insurer can pass the savings on to you. However you will have to do the leg-work though, which can take a few hours, but it will be time well spent. You should call at least three insurance companies before deciding on a policy. And remember that you can often save between 10% and 20% by going online. Most insurance companies offer cheap car insurance for first time drivers online. So if you get a telephone quote then you need to check you are not missing out on a deal which you can only get online, even from the same insurance company.

There is no shortage of websites that will let you compare car insurance policies and prices between different car insurance companies. But to get the best possible deal, then you need to spend a few minutes making certain that you are answering all of the questions correctly before you jump online.

Don't think, however, that you can get away with only looking at comparisons on one website. Each website only compares a small handful of insurance companies. If you really and truly want to make sure that you are getting the very best deal possible on your car insurance, then you really need to bite the bullet and take the extra time to make the same comparisons on at least 3 different websites.

Another way to secure cheap car insurance for first time drivers is to pay up front for the policy. Paying by monthly instalments may appear to be the cheaper option but many insurers will charge interest on the payments (up to 25% APR) and this could effectively clear any perceived savings you made on the policy.

Also consider adding breakdown cover to the policy if offered by the insurer as this could save you a lot of money in the long run and is usually quite cost effective considering the peace of mind it delivers. You can save £50-£100 by getting your breakdown cover this way.

So, before purchasing cheap car insurance for young drivers it would be wise to view the car insurance groups that a particular car falls into. These car insurance groups classify cars in a certain level of insurance and each car is assigned a group starting from one and ending at twenty. Buying a car relative to the most affordable group would be a more sensible way to save money on insurance.

Inexpensive Car Insurance

Inexpensive car insurance is what everybody would like to have, but that is difficult to find without a catch. However, it is possible to find low cost car insurance if you know where to look.

At one time it was a very difficult job to buy auto insurance and get the cheapest car insurance deal, since you had to telephone a whole heap of ins., companies for quotes and then try to analyze them for the features or services offered. If you didn't do that, it involved a lot of legwork around town. Now however, all is changed. The internet has made the job so much easier that even a child could compare free automobile insurance quotes now.

Not only can you get quotations from the best and the cheapest companies around, but it is much easier to compare features and additionals, and you can buy your policy online without getting out of your chair. However, even with the internet there the hard way and the easy way. The hard way to find low-cost coverage is to visit each individual website, and then make a note of the best offer each is making. Some of these will also provide you with prices from their competitors, though it is hard not to be suspicious that they are not comparing apples with apples.

You can then make a choice based upon your investigations. However, there is an easier way. Check out the various price comparison sites online - there are several of them, and if you have the time you can check out a few. With these, you can easily compare car insurance price quote online. They do compare apples with apples because they have no axe to grind. You can find the best ins., rates for your type and size of car. If you are in a hurry you can instantly find the companies offering the best cheap auto insurance rates, but if you have a few minutes to spare then you can go into details and find the best overall deal.

The best auto insurance deal is not necessarily the cheapest since a lot depends on what you get for your money, and you can save several hundreds of dollars just by getting the policy that you need, rather than what would be nice to have. There's no point in having coverage for any driver if you are likely to be the only one driving your car. If you are a pretty safe driver (or think you are) you might think it worth while increasing your deductible or excess. If you check through all the options provided by companies to boost up your premium, you can often shave quite a lot off.

There are also websites online that compare customers' views of specific ins., firms, and there are other sources whereby you can check out the reputation of companies. In the USA, the Department of Insurance will usually have a website that provides a history of complaints made to it by the customers. Not all states have this, but if your company is a national one, you can get the information by logging onto the website of another state close by. The affordable car insurance is not difficult to find online, especially if you are willing to do without all the frills and extras. The standard or basic policy is suitable for most people, although if you keep the cost of the policy in mind when buying a new car then that can go a long way towards enabling you to find a low cost auto ins policy.

There are many companies waiting to provide you with free online insurance quotes and the most inexpensive car insurance possible.

Car Insurance - How Did They Calculate That?

Insurance premiums are calculated according to several risk factors. These are the factors identified by the insurance company as most likely to have an impact on the insured against risk occurring. Insurance is a significant cost associated with the item insured and should not be rushed into. It is always a good idea to shop around for the best price available. Insurance premiums will vary considerably from insurer to insurer so do your homework.

Shop Around

Look up the various insurance companies you are interested in and ask them for a quote. They can usually give you a rough estimate fairly quickly and even more exact quotes should also be possible if you provide more details and wait. You should also look up insurers online and get instant quotes from their website. This is a very fast and effective way of shopping around. You will get a good idea of what prices to expect. You can also experiment with the quotation websites to see what effect it makes to your premium price if you select different options. With all insurance policies you will have a number of options that affect the price of the policy.

Therefore you should think about these options and if there are risks that you do not wish to cover then let the insurer know as your premium should become cheaper.

You should also try to make sure you do not double insure. It is a principle of insurance that you cannot benefit from the insured event's occurrence. So you cannot get paid twice even if you have two insurance policies. So if a risk is already covered by one policy, again let your insurer know so they can remove it from their calculation.

Factors

Car insurance premiums usually depend on factors such as what kind of car you are driving, how old it is, how big the engine is, what make and model it is? What type of insurance you require also plays a part, do you need only liability, or also comprehensive? What use you will make of the car, for example will you commute to work and how many miles do you plan on driving?

Your driving history will be a strong factor in determining your risk, and linked to this will be the age of the driver, with younger drivers being significantly more at risk of being involved in an accident. If you are young, your sex will also be an important risk factor, however if you are older sex usually becomes less significant.
